- Welcome to Louisbourg -

The Louisbourg Playhouse was built at the Fortress as part of the set for the Walt Disney movie “Squanto, A Warrior’s Tale”, which was released in 1994. In the fall of 1993, the theatre was donated by Don Carmody Productions, dismantled and moved to where it stands today.

The Louisbourg Playhouse Society, a registered non-profit organization, operates the Playhouse.

No visit to Cape Breton is complete until you’ve enjoyed the unique and lively musical tradition of our island. Come and enjoy some great Cape Breton music in our 17th century style theatre. It is one of the most unique entertainment venues in Nova Scotia. Open every evening from June 17th to October 8th. During our regular season, show time is 8:00 p.m. Reservations are recommended for nightly performances.
